Best Mixed-use Win at Dezeen Awards China

14 December 2023

This week, the first-ever Dezeen Awards China were announced at The Sukhothai hotel in Shanghai, where our latest project in Shenzhen, Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Youth Entrepreneurship Zone (Phase 1), received the trophy for the best Mixed-use Project of the year 2023. Project architect, Francis Yuen and Shanghai Director, Benjamin Warner were at the event     to accept the award on behalf of RSHP.

The winning project is a designated youth entrepreneurship zone located in northern Shenzhen, committed to providing an innovative oasis for Qianhai and creating an urban community with a work-life balance.

A pedestrianised masterplan featuring a central public square with a landmark cultural venue, surrounds a cluster of eight low-rise buildings offering flexible office spaces, lab facilities and retail units - all connected by elevated sky gardens.

The cultural building at the heart of the campus provides generous multi-purpose halls, exhibitions and office spaces.. Its transparent glazed facade, complemented by a lightweight 'veil' of aluminum tubes, diffuses sunlight and also transforms at night with integrated programmable LEDs.

Compared with many emerging super high-rises in Qianhai, Shenzhen, this super low-rise development aims to create a people-oriented comprehensive place for the urban living room.

The result is a comprehensive campus and creative hub designed to become the welcoming hall of Qianhai.
