Richard Paul – Director

Richard Paul is a director at RSHP with extensive international experience leading large multidisciplinary teams on complex architectural and urban projects across Asia, the Middle East, North America and Europe. Throughout his career, he has played a significant role in the practice’s international growth, particularly in China and the Middle East, delivering ambitious, technically sophisticated projects that respond to their cultural, urban and environmental contexts while advancing RSHP’s reputation for design excellence and innovation.

His portfolio includes Tower 3 at the World Trade Center redevelopment in New York, a 75-storey mixed-use tower forming the commercial heart of the revitalised site. He was also project director for the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Hong Kong Port Passenger Clearance Building, a major transport hub providing strategic connections between Hong Kong, Zhuhai and Macao.

In China, Richard is leading several landmark developments, including the Central China International Convention and Exhibition Centre (Phase 2), organised around a 1.7-kilometre elevated central spine, the Kingboard Qianhai Tower in Shenzhen, and the China Resources Building (Shanghai). In the Middle East, he is the principal designer of Dubai Peninsula and The Dubai Beach EDITION Hotel and Residences, creating major waterfront destinations that combine residential, hospitality and retail uses.

Richard has also contributed to the design evolution of Canary Wharf Riverside South in London and has been closely involved with Chiswick Park since its inception in 1999, guiding its development through successive phases. The award-winning business park established an international benchmark for sustainable, energy-efficient workplace design and remains a model for commercial development.

Prior to joining RSHP, Richard was a board director at Foster + Partners, where he worked on the Hongkong and Shanghai Bank Headquarters and lived in Hong Kong for several years. 

His work reflects a consistent ability to lead complex international projects and deliver architecture that combines technical innovation with lasting civic and commercial value.
