Douglas Paul – Associate Director
Douglas worked on the extension to Geneva Airport, Aile Est, which completed in 2021. He was involved from an early stage of concept design developing the services and operational strategies. His role evolved such that by tender of the main superstructure and fit-out he was leading the RSHP team and in turn the design-lead for the wider design consortium, RBI-T.
With over twenty years’ experience, Douglas possesses a proven ability to lead teams to deliver quality outcomes on complex projects.
In 2011, Douglas started work on the initial stages of the concept design of Aile Est - the extension to Geneva Airport – developing the services and operational strategies. As the project progressed, Douglas’s role evolved, and by the time of the tender of the main superstructure and fit-out, he was leading the RSHP team and the wider design consortium, RBI-T. He then led the project through the construction stages to completion in 2021, acting as design guardian throughout.
Prior to Geneva Aile Est, Douglas was a key member of the design team working on the headquarters of the BBVA Bancomer bank, (now known as BBVA México Tower), a 50-storey office building in Mexico City. He developed the brief from the winning competition design, and now the tower is an important landmark on the city skyline, garnering many awards, including the RIBA Award for International Excellence in 2018.
Between 2021 and 2023, Douglas relocated to Melbourne, Australia, to provide support to the site team on the Metro Tunnel Project. This project, which opened to the public in 2025, has created twin nine-kilometre tunnels and five new underground stations in the city. Douglas focused on the design resolution for the above-ground elements, including the station entrance canopies and retail provision.
From 2023 - 25, Douglas led a team responsible for the design of a E-Sports campus in Thiais, close to Paris-Orly airport. He then moved onto the design of over 500 new mixed-tenure homes in the same Parcs en Scene masterplan across four sites for three different clients, cumulating in achieving planning permission for the housing in early 2026.
In 2025, Douglas was appointed project architect for a new terminal at Casablanca Mohammed V International Airport (CMN). The terminal will initially accommodate 20 million passengers annually, with capacity increasing to 45 million in subsequent phases.
