Andrew Partridge – Associate Director

Andrew has been with the practice for over 30 years and he has worked on many award-winning projects, including Lloyd’s Register of Shipping, 88 Wood Street and the Millennium Dome, of which he was project architect for the central area, as well as the Senedd Cymru, Welsh Parliament (and recently its expansion) Heathrow Terminal 5 and Las Arenas in Barcelona.

Andrew was instrumental in the Barangaroo South Masterplan in Sydney, where 22 hectares located on the northwestern edge of the CBD, have been transformed from an old shipping container terminal into a premium hub of commerce, dining, and open public space, including the RSHP designed International Towers Sydney. Prior to this, Andrew also led the design team that delivered 8 Chifley, a sustainable office building in Sydney’s commercial district.

Other masterplan work includes a detailed a detailed masterplan for a new city in the Middle East which focuses on self-shading and walking and a concept masterplan for a new piece of reclaimed land in the southern Mediterranean.

Andrew’s work investigating how modern methods of manufacture can be used in housing and school design was demonstrated in the Design for Manufacture competition in 2005 and subsequently for Oxley Woods, a modular housing scheme in Milton Keynes which won the 2008 Manser Medal.

This system of volumetric, off-site manufacture has since been deployed throughout London and the UK, including Y:Cube in Mitcham London, providing one bed studios for young people unable to afford private rent; PLACE/Ladywell Lewisham, where urban brownfield land was utilized to provide 24 homes for local families in housing need; Park View – Romford YMCA – Romford YMCA comprising 39 affordable residential units for single people who are moving on from the main hostel, and more recently Crofts Street, a carbon positive modular housing project of nine two-bedroom townhouses in Cardiff, Wales.

Andrew has also played a key role in the “ruthlessly inclusive” Hammersmith & Fulham Civic Campus and 181 Talgarth, which comprises student accommodation and a Premier Inn Hotel.
