ONE Shanghai wins Best Building at CVU China Awards

We are delighted to share that ONE Shanghai (previously named China Resources Building) has won the award for Best Building at the Council of Vertical Urbanism's inaugural 2026 China Awards, alongside the award for Best Office Building.

Announced at the Vertical Cities Conference in Guangzhou on 25 June 2026, the awards recognise projects that advance the design of tall buildings and urban environments through innovation, sustainability and technical excellence. Richard Paul, Director at RSHP, presented the China Resources Building to the Steering Committee and Jury before accepting the awards at the evening ceremony.

Designed by RSHP for China Resources Land, the 186-metre office tower occupies a prominent site in Shanghai's Jing'an district at the intersection of three metro lines, close to the historic Zhang Garden and Nanjing West Road.

Set within one of the city's leading commercial districts, the building establishes a distinctive presence on the Shanghai skyline while responding sensitively to its historic surroundings.

At basement level, the tower connects directly with adjacent metro concourses, providing a continuous internal route between public transport, retail and the office spaces above, improving connectivity and the pedestrian experience.

Above a retail podium, the office tower provides highly efficient, flexible floorplates that can accommodate a wide range of tenancy requirements. The building's elegant form is shaped to maximise daylight while carefully integrated solar shading enhances occupant comfort and reduces energy demand.

A landscaped roof garden crowns the tower, offering panoramic views across Shanghai while providing an amenity space for building users.
