Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners' revised design proposal for the regeneration of the former Hammersmith Magistrates’ Court site in Hammersmith has gained planning permission. The RSHP-designed scheme provides two hotel buildings surrounding a vibrant public square and a pedestrian network with the surrounding area and the Hammersmith town centre

The scheme will provide two hotel buildings comprising 842 hotel rooms and ancillary facilities, including restaurants and bars, gym and meeting rooms accessible to hotel guests and the local community, a publicly accessible viewing deck, generous cycle parking and a new central public courtyard with a public pavilion, and extensive landscaped open space.

RSHP were appointed in December 2019 by Dominvs Group to take a fresh look at the site and prepare a new planning document as an alternative to the previously submitted application.

Community engagement and consultation has been an important aspect of the design development process for the scheme to respond to heritage concerns as well as access and inclusive design issues. Additionally, the development will create 300 new jobs and apprenticeships for local residents and on-site career development opportunities.

As part of the sustainability strategy, a wide range of energy efficiency measures are incorporated in the scheme which targets a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating.
