07 May 2015

8 Chifley in Sydney has been named the Rider Levett Bucknall /Property Council of Australia Development of the Year.

The 48 storey commercial tower in the CBD took home three trophies at the 2015 Property Council of Australia Awards, including Best Sustainable Development and Best Office Building.

Property Council of Australia’s Chief Executive, Ken Morrison said “The villages present a bold new concept for commercial office design. Mirvac has capitalised on the constraints of a relatively small site to design a ground-breaking building that delivers an extremely flexible working environment able to respond quickly to changing demands in the marketplace,”

“A defining feature of the project is the six-storey open space at street level that forms a grand entrance to the building, floods the floors with light, and creates a vibrant public space which completes Chifley Square,”

Barangaroo Masterplan and International Towers Sydney client Lendlease was also recognised with the Kone Award for Innovation for their work to develop new prefabrication construction standards at the Barangaroo project.
