RSHP projects shortlisted for three planning awards

We're delighted to share that 99 Bishopsgate and Bromley-by-Bow Gasworks have been shortlisted in the 2026 Planning Awards, recognised as outstanding projects that will deliver a better built environment for everyone. 

99 Bishopsgate

Shortlisted in both the Design Excellence and Planning Permission of the Year categories, 99 Bishopsgate is a 54-storey tower delivering 1 million sq ft of premium office space alongside 60,000 sq ft of public and cultural amenities.

Designed to meet the evolving needs of the future City workforce, the development will provide 8.3% of the additional office space required by the City by 2040, supporting employment growth and reinforcing the City’s status as a leading global financial district.

The building introduces clear, generous, and intuitive pedestrian routes, along with publicly accessible spaces designed to accommodate increased footfall and strengthen the site's role as a key gateway to the City. 

99 Bishopsgate prioritizes adaptive reuse, retaining the existing foundations, which make up nearly 50% of the building's mass, to reduce embodied carbon.

Developed by Brookfield Properties, the project won unanimous planning approval in January 2025, exemplifying how a contemporary office building can be sensitively integrated into the historic City of London.

Bromley-by-Bow Gasworks

Shortlisted in the Planning Permission of the Year category, Bromley-by-Bow gasworks is home to the largest and most significant collection of protected Victorian gasholders in the world, making it one of the UK's most complex and fascinating brownfield projects. 

The design reconnects the site with surrounding communities, creating a memorable place that celebrates its natural, industrial, and environmental heritage while introducing high-quality new buildings and public spaces.

Developed by St William Homes LLP, the project will deliver 2,150 new homes, with 70% open space, including a 4.2-acre park fronting the River Lea. It will also generate approximately 200 jobs and offer opportunities for skills development and training for local residents in Newham. The project was granted planning approval in July 2024.
